Join us to hear Adrienne Jansen and Rizwaana Latiff talk about The Crescent Moon exhibition.
Adrienne Jansen is a widely-published author of fiction, non-fiction and poetry, and in particular has worked alongside immigrants to record their experiences. For many years she taught English to new migrants, and was co-founder of one of the first home-tutoring programmes in New Zealand. In 1993 she established the creative writing programme at Whitireia Polytechnic, and has taught creative writing since then. She also worked for ten years as an exhibitions writer at Te Papa. As well as being the writer for The Crescent Moon exhibition and book, she was the writer for a companion exhibition, Sharing the Same Moon, in Penang, Malaysia.
Rizwaana Latiff was born in South Africa and moved to New Zealand 20 years ago with her family. She has worked extensively in the migrant community mostly as a Midwife but also in advocacy and service. She is passionate about empowering those who need to be. Growing up on Apartheid South Africa has given her this drive and passion.
