This collaborative installation by Billie Culy and Henry Lyons uses photography, found objects and audio to connect viewers with portraits of Hawke’s Bay people.
Personal objects sit alongside photographs, accompanied by recorded interviews from each participant who we never see in person.
Students will discuss material culture, how identity can be presented through objects, and how this relates to social media profiles we create. We will analyse photographic techniques such as composition, lighting and media.
Students become ‘detectives’ interviewing each other in pairs to discover their interests and backgrounds before creating mixed media portraits based on the identity of their classmates.
