Gallery Director
Toni determines the overall shape, management and delivery of the Gallery's exhibition programme, and develops its vision, brand and strategic plan. She leads the gallery team in its implementation of exhibitions, publications, educational programmes and public events.
TRICIA JOHNSON
Exhibition Coordinator and Administrator
Tricia manages the logistics of loaning art from lending institutions and artists for exhibitions staged at the Gallery. She works closely with the director and the Gallery’s exhibition designer and installation technician; and coordinates the team to ensure the delivery of the Gallery’s annual exhibition programme. In addition she oversees the smooth running of the Gallery’s day to day operation.
ELHAM SALARI
Public Engagement Specialist
Elham leads the Gallery’s public engagement initiatives and is responsible for delivering a range of innovative programmes to maximise the public’s relationship with the Gallery. Her portfolio includes educational programmes for schools, specialised interactive activities, lectures, artist workshops, floor talks, school holiday programmes and Art for Tots. Her favourite initiative is the Youth Art Ambassador Programme which she developed to provide young people with an opportunity to shape what happens at the Gallery.
JONATHAN BROWN
Exhibition Designer and Installation Technician
Jonathan manages the design of exhibitions presented in Hastings City Art Gallery’s spaces – from preparatory floor plan layouts through to installation and de-installation. He fabricates exhibition fittings and furnishings, implements lighting and audio-visual display solutions and, in the case of touring exhibitions, designs and builds museum-standard art storage crates. In his role he works closely with artists, curators, the Gallery’s graphic designer, and management.
SACHA VAN DEN BERG
Visitor Services and Retail Coordinator
Sacha is responsible for customer service delivery and visitor experience in the Gallery, and is passionate about manaakitanga. Her role includes coordinating and managing exhibition openings, connecting with the Gallery’s volunteer base – an aspect of her job that she loves – and management of the Gallery store, Te Toa.
EBONY HOLT
Graphic Designer
As the Gallery’s graphic designer, Ebony implements the visual composition, look and feel of each exhibition, from signage, informative text, and labels; to digital and online publicity. She relishes the different challenges each new show brings. In addition, she designs the Hastings City Art Gallery’s raft of marketing material and branding collateral, and works closely with the Gallery team, artists and guest curators – advising and supporting them in a cross-section of design requirements.
